However, the important point was that a social revolution had occurred. The restored Monarchy was not the same as the old Monarchy, feudal laws and the old economic system had been destroyed.
The State is never a unified monolith. It is a collective of the different sections of the ruling capitalist elite and will therefore exhibit both disagreements and agreements within its structure. This gives it the needed flexibility. However, what all the different elements of the present Thai State all have in common is the need to maintain conditions for continued capital accumulation. The present Thai State is not plagued by splits between the pre-capitalist elites and modern aggressive capitalists.
